When Apple released the 2020 iPad Pro, one feature that comes with it is WiFi 6 support. In case you don’t know what WiFi 6 is all about, it is basically just a new update from WiFi 5. It will contain faster speeds to support the ever growing amount of devices in the world. Apple brags that the 2020 iPad Pro will support WiFi 6, but is it too good to be true?
The truth is that your iPad will only be able to operate with WiFi 6 if you purchase a WiFi 6 router. In order to actually use WiFi 6, you must purchase a router to support, which will cost you around $200. Although WiFi 6 will supposedly improve WiFi speeds two to three times, you have to spend money buying a new router, which is pretty inconvenient for a lot of people.
The only other devices that Apple has the support WiFi 6 are the new iPhone 11’s. So, the only reason that I would think that someone would purchase a new WiFi router would be if you have all of the latest technology and want faster speeds. I think that at least for a little while, people will stick to WiFi 5. The 2020 iPad Pro does work with WiFi 5, it will just be the same speed as it used to be, which shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
If you are really interested in getting a router that supports WiFi 6, you can get the NETGEAR Nighthawk AX4 4-Stream WiFi 6 Router for just $109, which is a really great deal.
