iPadOS 13.4 has come out! This new update offers mouse and trackpad support, which I know a lot of people have wanted for a long time now. To set up a new magic mouse or magic trackpad, all that you have to do is go into settings, turn on the device, and it should appear as an option to connect. This feature is great and allows people to use their iPads more like computers, which I think a lot of people will like. Before this new update, there was a way to connect your mouse to your iPad using the Accessibility settings, but that was not very reliable and it oftentimes didn't work.
When we tried to use a mouse on our iPads before, it wasn't the best experience. You had a little dot with a small circle around it acting as your cursor, and you had to have assistive touch on while using it, which I thought just got in the way a lot of times. With the new update, your cursor is a nice little grey dot that works nicely. When you get close to an app, the cursor will disappear into the app, and the app will be bigger than the rest so that you know you are on the app. This also happens when you are using an app like Mail or Notes, and you go to click on one of the little icons at the top, it will form a rectangle around the icon. Another great feature is that when you are scrolling through text, the cursor will become a straight line so that you can easily highlight things.
I think overall, this update is amazing allows people to work on your iPads in a lot of new ways. The only problem that I have from using it so far is that when I try to click on an app, and my mouse is still moving a little bit, the apps will think that I was trying to delete the app that I was hovering over. You then have to use your fingers to hit the "done" button, and it will bug you if you are constantly using your mouse. Then again, this isn't the worst thing in the world, but it is something to think about if you are considering buying either a new mouse or a new trackpad to go with this update.
Have a fantastic day,
