There have been a flurry of tech acquisitions recently, and it looks like Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO) may be next to the register, wanting to buy ExtendMedia.

ExtendMedia, the software based Content Management Systems [CMS] provider, can help with the complete lifecycle of a video for multiple purposes including paid monetization and ad-based businesses.

Senior vice president and general manager, Cisco’s Service Provider Video Technology Group Enrique Rodriguez said that “As the video market transitions and consumers expect multi-screen engagement, service providers are enhancing their infrastructure to manage and deliver video to any device while providing a rich user experience.”

Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE:HPQ)

Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE:HPQ) this week outbid Dell with a $1.6 billion proposal for a buyout of 3Par Inc, a data storage provider that would facilitate HP’s (NYSE:HPQ) entrance into the cloud computing arena, a source familiar with the matter told Bloomberg News.

HP said Monday that would pay more than double market value to get its hands on 3Par.
