The patent suit is regarding software for incorporating user-data templates into different word-processing programs including Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s market-leading Word.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) spokesman Kevin Kutz said that denial “departs not only from Supreme Court precedent, but from the rulings of all the other appellate courts, and we are asking the Supreme Court to resolve this conflict.”

The company has confirmed its plans to develop some devices that are built on the mobile platform from Microsoft, Windows Phone 7.

Matt Parretta from Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) replied to speculation saying “Any reports, or speculation, that report Dell will not support Windows Phone 7 are false… Microsoft announced Dell as a supporting partner at this year’s Mobile World Congress and nothing’s changed. We are excited to collaborate with Microsoft on Windows Phone 7, and are looking forward to bringing customers amazing mobile experiences.”
